Originally from Xalapa, Veracruz, Renée Mariem Baruch González holds a Bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in Singing (with Honors) and in Music Education, both from the Universidad Veracruzana. She graduated with a Master's degree in Cultural Marketing and Artistic Production from Realia Instituto Universitario para las Artes. She has also completed diplomas in Mexican Opera and Scenic Production. Currently, she is a beneficiary of FONCA as a Stage Creator in Category B for her project “From Figaro to Fidelio: Opera and Revolution.”
Her parents, both teachers, introduced her to music study at the age of three, enrolling her in music initiation schools and with private teachers for violin, piano, and choral singing. At the age of 12, she participated in the children's choir for the opera “Carmen,” deciding that she wanted to pursue opera as a career.
Renée has participated in operas such as “The Magic Flute” and “The Impresario” by Mozart; “Dido and Aeneas” by Purcell; “The Telephone” by G. Menotti; “Hansel and Gretel” by Humperdinck; “Tropical” by F. González; “Suor Angelica” by Puccini; “Love in Apocalyptic Times” by F. González; “Romeo and Juliet” by Gounod (adapted by Ingrid Jigar); and the zarzuela “Luisa Fernanda” by M. Torroba. She has also sung in oratorios such as “Paradise and the Peri” Op. 50 by R. Schumann (2023), “Requiem” by Fauré (2011, 2018), “Gloria” by Vivaldi, “Ceremony of Carols” by B. Britten, “Historia di Jephte” by Carissimi, Missa Brevis KV.220 by Mozart (2021), and in Cantatas BWV 51, 147, 199, Bux WV 39, and HWV 140.
She has been a soloist with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, Boca del Río Philharmonic Orchestra, Daniel Ayala Symphony Orchestra of EMBA, UV Popular Music University Orchestra, Veracruz State Youth Symphony Orchestra, Xalapa Chamber Orchestra, and Xalapa Guitar Orchestra, among others.
Renée met Maestro Rogelio Riojas-Nolasco in 2014 during a series of masterclasses he conducted in Xalapa.
She participated for the first time with Operísima México in the concerts of January 2023.
Her goals include consolidating her professional career, promoting lyrical art by bringing opera to unconventional spaces, and supporting platforms that professionalize the next generations of singers. One of her greatest challenges has been balancing production work and singing studies, as both are her passions but require significant effort.
A great enthusiast of art in all its forms and the production of shows, she has collaborated with fashion, music, contemporary dance, and theater collectives.
