Originally from Mexico City, Harim Carbajal currently resides in León. He is the only member of his family with an affinity and interest in music. His first exposure to singing came in 2013 when he joined the “Coro y Orquesta Esperanza Azteca: Sede San Juan de Abajo” project.
He has been part of various choral ensembles, including the Coro de Centro Fox, Coro del Teatro del Bicentenario, Coro de Fundación León, Coro de Cámara de la Escuela de Música de León, Coro del Instituto Cultural de León, and Coro Intercultural de León. Lacking support from his parents to pursue formal music studies—his greatest aspiration—he studied for two semesters in Pharmaceutical Engineering at IPN, which he eventually left to start working in 2016 and save money to fulfill his dream of becoming an opera singer.
In 2017, he enrolled at the Escuela de Música de León, where he was accepted into the Upper Secondary Music Program. His studies have faced interruptions due to economic and family issues, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Music with a focus on singing in collaboration with the University of Guanajuato.
During his brief career as a semi-professional, he has had the opportunity and honor to participate in opera galas at EML, concert nights at Casa Luis Long, and various recitals in cultural venues throughout León. He was also a solo tenor at the International Festival of Contemporary Art, performing in the Mexican premiere of “Réquiem for my Friend” by Polish composer and conductor Zbigniew Preisner.
He has taken lessons with Efraín Corralejo, Carolina Torres, and Edna Isabel Valles. Recognizing the need to grow and immerse himself in the world of opera, he made a pivotal decision in 2021 to enroll in an Operatic Perfection workshop, where he met Maestro Rogelio Riojas-Nolasco. In 2023, after a second meeting with the maestro and with a more developed voice, Maestro Rogelio invited him to participate in an opera gala as part of the activities of Operísima México.
Currently, Harim is focused on completing his studies as a foundation for his training. He also aims to take on the challenge of singing a full role to explore his potential and continue acquiring skills and tools that will help him grow as a person and musician. In the medium to long term, he plans to participate in various national and international competitions while maintaining his convictions and ideals regardless of circumstances, with the ultimate goal of fulfilling his greatest dream: debuting at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
In his free time, Harim enjoys photography, cycling, drinking coffee, watching films, listening to music (as a music lover), writing and reading poetry, trying different cuisines, and, as a true Mexican, watching soccer.
