Rogelio Riojas-Nolasco. Originally from Piedras Negras, Coahuila, he worked as a pianist and assistant conductor at more than 20 opera houses worldwide. He began his career as a conductor with La Favorita and Mignon with the Opera Company da Corneto in Chicago, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Faust, Rigoletto, Don Giovanni, and Norma at the Shaker Mountain Festival in New York, an opera gala with the Istanbul Philharmonic, Cinderella by Wolf-Ferrari with the Berlin State Opera, Katiuska by Zarzuela with the Andalusian Lyric Theatre, El Barberillo de Lavapiés at the Stuttgart State Opera, Chopin concerts with the Pan- American Orchestra of Poland, and La Traviata and Carmen at the Aegean Islands Festival.
He conducted the world premiere of Ana y su Sombra at the Cervantino Festival, as well as with the orchestras of Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, and Chihuahua. He has collaborated with the Swiss Youth Orchestra, the Baltasar Neumann Orchestra of Freiburg, the Dallas Symphony, and the Albany Symphony. His career has taken him to countries such as Russia (Tchaikovsky Conservatory), Spain, Italy, England, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Finland, Turkey, Israel, Poland, Greece, South Africa, Sweden, the United States (Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center), Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica, Cuba, and the Cayman Islands.
Rogelio speaks German, Italian, English, and French, which has led him to collaborate with the world’s leading singers and conductors, including Plácido Domingo, Javier Camarena, Rolando Villazón, Roberto Alagna, José Carreras, Neil Shicoff, Francisco Araiza, Ramón Vargas, Edita Gruberova, Elina Garanca, Cecilia Bartoli, Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto, Ana Moffo, Mariela Devia, Leo Nucci, and José Van Damm, among many others.
From 2014 to 2018, he was Artistic Director and Master of the Opera Studio of the Fine Arts, where his students won international awards. In 2019, he founded the Coahuila Opera Workshop.
In 2018, he received the annual award and recognition for his international career from the government of Sonora at the Alfonso Ortiz Tirado Festival.
