Mezzo-Soprano
Originally from Costa Rica, Karla Pineda began her vocal training with Maestro Guadalupe González Kreysa. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Costa Rica (UCR) and joined the Basic Stage in Singing at UCR, as well as the University Music Program with an emphasis in Singing.
Karla was part of the Costa Rica Opera Studio under the National Lyric Company, selected by Maestro Rogelio Riojas-Nolasco, where they first met. She is currently involved with the Operísima México project, also directed by Maestro Riojas-Nolasco.
She has won the Young Soloists Competition of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, as well as Second and Third Place and the Orfeo de Bronce in the ORFEO Lyric Singing Competition.
Karla made her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica during the IV Concert, performing Mozart’s “Requiem” and Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy.” She has also been a soloist with the Humanities Orchestra, performing "Stabat Mater" by Bruno Vlahek with Vox Nova, "Mar y Cel" by playwright Ángel Guimerá, "Misa Criolla" by Ariel Ramírez, "La Bandada, musical urgente para tiempos convulsos" by Carlos Castro and Roxana Ávila, “THE QUEEN" with OSN-CR, and "Cantata Negra" by Marvin Camacho with the UCR Choir (winner of a Latin Grammy), as well as with the Heredian Lyric Choir and performing Mahler’s "Symphony No. 2" with the UCR Symphony Orchestra.
Recently, she participated in the production of Richard Wagner’s "Parsifal," where she was the cover singer for Kundry in the premiere production by the Teatro del Bicentenario in León, Guanajuato.
Her operatic roles include La Ciesca in Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi," Flora and Annina in Verdi's "La Traviata," Maddalena in Verdi's "Rigoletto," Donna Elvira in Mozart's "Don Giovanni," Dorabella in Mozart's “Così fan tutte,” Kundry in Wagner’s “Parsifal,” and Carmen in Bizet’s “Carmen.”
Languages are another passion of hers, as they have broadened her performance opportunities and enriched her professional and personal experience as an opera singer.
Her ongoing challenges include continuous vocal development to maintain and enhance her vocal quality, navigating the highly competitive opera industry, and standing out through her artistic and vocal talent thanks to Operísima México.
Karla's goals as an opera singer are to constantly improve as an artist in her performances and to establish a successful professional career.

Among her interests, Karla enjoys traveling and performing around the world, which has led her to participate in national and international opera festivals and competitions, including Ópera Sin Límites and the Linus Lerner Competition (Mexico), Ópera en mi Ciudad (Panama), Young Soloists, and the ORFEO Lyric Singing Competition (Costa Rica). She has also performed concerts in Costa Rica and Guatemala, and thanks to Operísima México, Karla has sung in Vienna, Austria, Panama, and Mexico.
